Program Information
Program Goal
The TAMIU FOSS Program is designed to help LCC transfer students overcome various academic and financial barriers by providing them with:
Summer workshops to assist students to be successful during their transition into a 4 year institution
Interaction with peers, professionals and faculty at Texas A&M International University
Financial aid information regarding scholarships, stipends, and internship opportunities
Creating a seamless transfer program from Laredo Community College to Texas A&M International University and beyond
Eligibility Requirements
Be a transfer student from Laredo Community College
Be enrolled or plan to enroll for at least 12 credit hours per semester
Be enrolled or plan to enroll in one of the Gatekeeper Courses:
Business Statistics I
Calculus
Chemistry
Writing Intensive Classes
Have a Transfer GPA of 2.0 or higher
Benefits
As a participant in the FOSS Program, you are provided with:
A free personal laptop or Microsoft Surface tablet (provided on loan during your enrollment at TAMIU);
Receive many one-on-one services including academic advising and financial aid counseling with a dedicated FOSS Advisor;
Receive the latest information on a variety of topics that you need to know to be successful and to assist in your personal and professional growth;
A Support group of students just like you with similar goals;
Access to FOSS Family events such as athletic and cultural events that help develop your campus involvement and achieve academic success
Application must be received by the FOSS Office, before eligibility is considered.
