To fulfill the University mission in offering baccalaureate programs
in the arts, as well as the commitment to the preparation of students
for leadership roles in professions related to the fine and performing
arts. (1) The students’ knowledge and appreciation of culture, fine
arts, social integration, and self-realization
Intended Educational (Student) Outcomes:
1. Students completing the Bachelor of Music (Performance)
will obtain satisfactory musical knowledge and skills.
2. Students completing the Bachelor of Music (Performance) will
obtain a satisfactory level of performance ability in their major instrument.
3. Students completing the Bachelor of Music (Performance) will
be prepared to attain professional positions in music related fields,
and or gain admission to graduate level programs in music.

will obtain satisfactory musical knowledge and skills.
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
__1__a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Bachelor of Music (Performance) graduates will be measured using
a departmental comprehensive music exam in which students must score
70% or higher.
__1__a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
Insufficient data were collected up to this point, as two students
have graduated since the degree was approved in late 2002. Both students
score 70% or higher on the examination.
__1__a. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program:
The program faculty cannot make a recommendation at this time because
of the lack of data for this means of assessment.
Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
__1_b. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Evaluations by employers of music students in fine arts summer programs
will be compiled.
__1__b. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
Insufficient data were collected as no student who graduated reported
employment in fine arts summer programs. This degree was approved during
the 2002 Fall semester.
__1__b. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program:
The program faculty cannot make a recommendation at this time because
of the lack of data for this means of assessment.

instrument.
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
__2__a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Bachelor of Music (Performance) graduates will perform on juried
recitals each semester throughout the program, in addition to junior
and senior solo recitals. A panel of at least three jurors and their
respective performance approval will be required.
__2__a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
Data was collected for the two students who have graduated from
this program, with satisfactory level of performance ability in their
major instrumental juries. Two students, however, represent limited
data.

The program faculty cannot make a recommendation at this time because
of the lack of data for this means of assessment.

Music Performance students will perform satisfactorily in music
festivals and competitions. Benchmark for student success will be 70
% or higher.

after graduation by the Department to gather supporting data concerning
whether or not the student was able to obtain employment in the music
field. Benchmark for employment success will be 70% or higher.
