Texas A&M International University, a Member of The Texas A&M University System, is committed to the preparation of students for leadership roles in their chosen profession and in an increasingly complex, culturally diverse state, national, and global society …  Through instruction, faculty and student research, and public service, Texas A&M International University is a strategic point of delivery for well-defined programs and services that improve the quality of life for citizens of the border region, the State of Texas, and national and international communities.

Administrative or Educational Support Unit Mission Statement:
The role of the Admissions Office is to provide a seamless process of applying, being accepted, and initiating the desired degree program for all classifications by: Disseminating procedures and information; receiving and entering admissions applications; monitoring test score receipts; collecting all other pertinent admission and academic documents to complete a folder for acceptance; and providing a smooth transition for transfer students.

Intended Administrative Objectives:

1. Students should not experience complications in applying to Texas A&M International University.

2. Admissions procedures and information will be easy for International students to comprehend.

3.  The Texas A&M International University Outreach Office located at the Laredo Community College campus will provide a smooth transition to transfer students seeking admissions to our institution through Transfer Week Activities

1. Students should not experience complications in applying to Texas A&M International University.

First Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:
1a. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
A locally developed questionnaire provided to each applicant upon acceptance will indicate 90% of respondents will rate ease of applying good or better.

1a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
87.2% of respondents rated the admissions procedures good or better.

1a. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services:
Criteria were not met.  Compared to last year’s results, however, the percentage increased.  Admissions application, brochures, and procedures have been evaluated and modified once again to increase the ease of the application process.

2.Admissions procedures and information will be easy for International students to comprehend.

First Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:
2a. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
A locally developed questionnaire provided to currently enrolled International students will indicate 80% of respondents will rate admissions information easy to understand or better.

2a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
75% of respondents rated the admissions information easy to understand or better.

2a. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services:
Criteria were not met.  Admissions procedures and material for international students have been evaluated and modified to increase the ease of the application process.

Second Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:
2b. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
A focus group of currently enrolled International students will review and rate applications materials.  75% of applications materials reviewed will be rated as good or better.

2b. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
100% of total surveys rated the admissions information as good or better.

2b. Use of Results to Improve Unit Service:
Criteria for success were attained. Any comments or suggestions by focus group have been taken into consideration to improve our application materials and procedures.

3.The Texas A&M International University Outreach Office located at the Laredo Community College campus will provide a smooth transition to transfer students seeking admissions to our institution through Transfer Week activities.

3a. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Alocally developed questionnaire will be provided to transfer students that attend Transfer Week activities.  80% of respondents will rate their experience of transition as good or better.

3a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
98.1%of total surveys rated their experience of transition through Transfer Week Activities as good or better.

3a. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services:
Results of surveys met criteria for success.  The Texas A&M International University Outreach Office located at the Laredo Community College continues to provide assistance to transfer students.
