Administrative or Educational Support Unit Mission Statement:
Our goal is to empower college students to be capable and competent adults while adjusting to the challenges and transitions of University life as well as helping faculty and staff function more effectively in their work with students.

Intended Administrative Objectives:

1. Student body perceives Student Counseling Services counselors as being skilled in helping and in training students in better ways of coping with concerns.

2. Students who have used individual counseling would return to use Student Counseling Services or recommend them to other students.

3. Student with disabilities report they would return to use Disability Services for Students services and that such services assist them in doing better academically.

Intended Administrative or Educational Support Objective:

1. Student body perceives Student Counseling Services counselors as being skilled in helping and in training students in better ways of coping with concerns.

First Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:

1a. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Student Counseling Services (SCS) counselors will receive a score of 4.0 or higher on question #6, “The counselor seemed skilled in helping me with my problems”, on the Student Counseling Services Satisfaction Survey.

1a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
The survey had a seventy one percent response rate.  Counselors received a group average of 4.74 on question #6.

1a. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services:
Criteria were met.  Continue training and supervision of counselors to further increase clinician’s skill levels.

Second Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:

1b. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Student Counseling Services (SCS) counselors will receive a score of 4.0 or higher on question #7, “My counselor helped me develop better ways of coping with my concerns”, on the Student Counseling Services Satisfaction Survey.

1b. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
On question #7, counselors received a group average rating by students of 4.66, exceeding the target goal of 4.0.

1b. Use of Results to Improve Unit Service:

Continue training of counselors to update skills and provide them with new strategies for assisting students.

2a. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
On the Student Counseling Services Satisfaction Survey, an overall average score of 4.0 or higher will be achieved on question #8, “If the need to speak to someone arises again, I would return.”

2a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
Counselors received an overall rating of 4.64 on question #8, exceeding the target goal of 4.0.

2a. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services:
Continue to advertise and publicize Student Counseling Services to the student body to complement word-of-mouth advertising by students satisfied with our services.

Second Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:

2b. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success
On the Student Counseling Services Satisfaction Survey, an overall average score of 4.0 or higher will be achieved on question #9, “I would recommend Student Counseling Services to others.”

2b. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
Based on the survey results, counselors received an overall rating of 4.77, exceeding the target goal of 4.0.

2b. Use of Results to Improve Unit Service:

Continue to publicize Student Counseling Services to the student body to complement positive communication of counselors regarding our services.

3. Student with disabilities report they would return to use Disability Services for Students services and that such services assist them in doing better academically.

First Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:

3a. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Disability Services for Students will receive an overall average score of 4.0 or higher on question #8, “If the need to speak to the Disability Services Coordinator should arise again, I would return”, of the Disability Services for Students Satisfaction Survey (DSSSS).

3a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
DSS received an overall rating of 4.52 on question #8, exceeding the target goal of 4.0.

3a. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services:
Continue to distribute information and reach out to students regarding Disability Services for Students.

Second Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:

3b. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success
DSS will receive a percentage of 60% of respondents stating yes to question #10, “As a result of Disability Services for Students, I believe that I will do better”, on the Disability Services for Students Satisfaction Survey (DSSSS).

3b. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
The percentage of respondents answering “yes” to question #10 was 91%, exceeding the goal of 60%.

3b. Use of Results to Improve Unit Service:
Continue to encourage use of Disability Services for Students by the student body.
