Texas A&M International University, a Member of the Texas A&M
University System, is committed to the preparation of students for leadership
roles in their chosen profession and in an increasingly complex, culturally
diverse state, national, and global society … Through instruction, faculty
and student research, and public service, Texas A&M International
University is a strategic point of delivery for well-defined programs
and services that improve the quality of life for citizens of the border
region, the State of Texas, and national and international communities.
Administrative or Educational Support Unit Mission Statement:
The Office for Institutional Advancement undertakes various fund-raising
programs to support the needs of the University and keeps the connection
between alumni and the University. Primary services offered by the
department are: development, donor relations, grant resources, advancement
services, alumni relations, and events planning and activities.
Intended Administrative Objectives:
1. Development:Identify additional sources of private
philanthropy in Laredo and surrounding area.
2. Donor Relations: Increase the number of donors in
an effort to increase the total amount of gifts.
3. Grant Resources: Increase participation by the College
of Education, the College of Science and Technology, and the College
of Business Administration in grant applications by 15% and continue
working with the College of Arts and Humanities and other departments
at their current level of 15% or better.
4. Alumni Relations: Actively recruit alumni and increase
their participation in institutional advancement.

Intended Administrative or Educational Support Objective:
1. Development: Identify additional sources of private
philanthropy in Laredo and surrounding area.
First Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:
1a. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Use of Gifts, Donations, Grants, and Endowment Reports will
identify the types of donors. Additional sources of private philanthropy
will show an increase of 25%.
1a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
55% were identified as new sources of private philanthropy in Laredo
and surrounding areas.
1a. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services:
Personal contacts of the newly identified sources have been made
by the University President and development officers to seek funding.

Intended Administrative or Educational Support Objective:
2. Donor Relations: Increase the number of donors
in an effort to increase the total amount of gifts.
First Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:
2a. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Use of Gift, Donations, Grant and Endowment Report for the
Board of Regents is used to measure the increase in donors from the
previous year. Our goal is to increase the total amount of gifts by
10%.
2a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
The number of donors was increased by 28% but the amount of gifts
was increased by only 7%.
2a. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services:
Donors are visited by our University President and development officers
personally and asked to increase the amount of their gift for the following
year.

3. Grant Resources: Increase participation by the
College of Education, the College of Science and Technology, and the
College of Business Administration in grant applications by 15% and

3a. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Use grant resources proposal tracking log to analyze monthly
and annual grant submissions, success rate, and amount of funds granted.
The goal is to increase the level of participation by 15% or better.
3a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
Three out of four units were able to attain and/or surpass the anticipated
goal. The College of Business Administration did not reach the recommended
goal; however, they did have an increase of 10%.
3a. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services:
The Office of Grant Resources has improved their web page to assist
faculty and staff in their search efforts for external funding. The
Director of Grant Resources meets with each department to develop a
grant seeking plan to help reach their expected objectives. A faculty
survey is distributed to determine factors for non-participation or
participation in grant applications.

4. Alumni Relations: Actively recruit alumni and increase
their participation in institutional advancement.
First Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above:
4a. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Use of monthly and annual gift analysis reports provided by BlackBaud
records to measure increase in alumni participation. Goal is to have
increase of 25%.
4a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
Alumni participation increased by 50%. The data was collected from
the year-to-date report submitted to the Board of Regents annually.
4a. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services:
The information continuously used to increase the number of donors.
The number of responses and amount of money collected are tracked and
measured.
