1.Students completing the Bachelor of Arts in Music will acquire satisfactory musical knowledge and skills.

First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
1a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
The musical skills of Bachelor of Music (performance) graduates will be measured using a departmentally-generated, comprehensive music examination. No student will score below 70%.

1a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
No student has yet graduated from the program. Both the degree and the departmental structure were officially approved during the Fall 2002 semester.

No recommendations as of this date.

Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
1b. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Evaluations by employers of music students in summer fine arts programs will be compiled.

2.  Students completing the Bachelor of Arts in Music will demonstrate basic performance skills on their major instrument.

First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
2a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Students completing the Bachelor of Music (Performance) will perform in juried recitals each semester throughout the program, as well as in junior and senior solo recitals. A panel of at least three jurors will judge respective performances and make an assessment.

2a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected:
No student has yet graduated from the program. Both the degree and the departmental structure were officially approved during the Fall 2002 semester.

2a. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program:
No recommendations as of this date.

Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
2b. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
Music performance students will perform satisfactorily in music festivals and competitions. Benchmark for student performance will be at least 70%.

Bachelor of Music (Performance) graduates will be surveyed one year after graduation by the Department of the Fine and Performing Arts in order to gather data concerning whether or not students were able to gain employment in the music field.

No student has yet graduated from the program. Both the degree and the departmental structure were officially approved during the Fall 2002 semester.
