MAP Program

The Texas A&M International University Police Department provides the Motorist Assistance Program (MAP) for students, faculty, staff, and guests free of charge. We are not mechanics, but we will try to help with problems related to your vehicle.

Free Service

There is no charge for any of the services provided under the MAP program, but because there is a chance that we may unintentionally damage your car, we ask that you waive any claim for any damages which might result from University Police Officers providing assistance to you.

Unlocking (opening) vehicles

TAMIU Police Officers will provide you assistance in opening your vehicle.

We will ask you for the following when providing the service:

  • Waive any claim for any damages which may result from the attempt
  • Valid Photo I.D. Card
  • University I.D. ( If Student)
  • Other information ......

Jumper Cables:

Officers will assist by using a Battery Jump Box to attempt to start the vehicle.

Gas Assistance:

We will provide a container to transport gasoline at your expense.  You may check out a gas container located at the University Police Department for a period of time not to exeed two hours.  You may check out the gas container at the UPD building by leaving your valid driver license and TAMIU ID.  Upon completion return the gas container to the department and recover your ID's.
