Edward L. Treviño, born in Richmond, California, came to Laredo in 1961. He graduated from Berkeley High School completeing his studies at Martin High School, and later earned a Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a major in Information Systems Management from Trinity College and University. He served in the Air Force and the U.S. Navy during Viet Nam and Operation Desert Shield/Storm. While in the military, he served as Executive Officer (acting) of the Medical Unit at Naval Reserve Facility (NRF) and Safety Officer and Supply/Maintenance LPO of NRF in Laredo and Charleston Regional Dental Center in South Carolina. He has extensive experience in environmental control, safety/security and ADA compliance areas. At Laredo Independent School District, he was Electronic Maintenance Supervisor, Safety/ADA supervisor and later Energy Manager. At present he is Safety Specialist at TAMIU.
