City Names Maldonado Bridge System Director Reprinted from The Laredo Morning Times Laredo’s international crossings have a new head, Mario I. Maldonado Jr. '83, '88, has been appointed as the Laredo Bridge System Director, effective immediately. “Mr. Maldonado has the most experience and innate understanding of the bridge operation and is a natural choice to be the successor for the director position,” stated City Manager Larry Dovalina. “It is important that department heads posses certain characteristics such as the desire to improve themselves. Mr. Maldonado has taken advantage of several employee development programs, proving that he is willing to take on new challenges. I am confident that he will maintain and grow the success factors of the Bridge System.” Maldonado first joined the City of Laredo team in 1991 as the Laredo Municipal Housing Director in the Community Development Department. He has been a public servant for 14 years in Laredo. “I am excited to have been given this vote of confidence by City Management and I share their goals, as well as those of the Mayor and City Council, that the Bridge System is an important part of our government operations that is to be protected and cultivated,” stated the new Bridge System director. “Through the work of our employees and the bridge System’s function in the community and on this continent, our international crossings are one of the main platforms that will ensure prosperity for us by maximizing Laredo’s preeminent position as the largest inland trade hub in the Americas.” |
