New International Program for TAMIU

Texas A&M International University and the Universidad Tecnológica de Nuevo Laredo signed a five-year pact Wednesday for a truly international program in international trade.  TAMIU will offer short-term courses leading to certification in logistics, transportation and TAMIU's Dr. Keck and Universidad Tecnologica de Nuevo Laredo's Marco Antonio Garzacustom brokerage, while UTNL will offer students practical experience in international trade through internships.

The increasingly heated competition in the global economy requires institutions of higher education to realign and enrich their programs, officials said.  There will be an exchange of students, texts and conferences as well as joint projects.  The focus for the joint educational program was international trade, Marco Antonio Garza from UTNL said, because that’s the crux of the economy of Los Dos Laredos.  “This will have great benefits for both cities,” Garza said. “The professional qualifications of the Mexican and Texas students will demonstrate our ability to compete to reach our future goals.”  Click here to read more...
