              Standing shoulder–to-shoulder with
            
            
              them this summer was a select group
            
            
              of TAMIU students named to the
            
            
              Latino Leadership Initiative (LLI) at the
            
            
              Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for
            
            
              Public Leadership (CPL).
            
            
              The six: Miriam Abrego, Marcos
            
            
              Dimas, Joel Alexis Jurado, Connie
            
            
              Berenice Lerma, Laura Méndez, and
            
            
              Carlos Pacheco, took part in LLI’s
            
            
              second collaborative class. 
            
            
              They joinedother risingseniors from
            
            
              around the nation for the weeklong conference.
            
            
              This is the secondTAMIU LLI student group.
            
            
              LLI director David Gergen, professor of Public
            
            
              Service and former White House advisor to
            
            
              four presidents, visited TAMIU last year, meeting with LLI
            
            
              participants.
