About Us
Our Center
The Autism Interventions Center (AIC), a first for Texas A&M International University and Laredo, was opened on Feb. 17, 2010. Joining University administrators and members of the community was U.S. Congressman and TAMIU alumnus Dr. Henry Cuellar, who was crucial in helping secure funding support for the Center.
Our Mission
The Autism Interventions Center is dedicated to providing diagnostic evaluations and evidence-based intervention services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families from Laredo and the surrounding communities. Through the AIC services, graduate students in the Special Education MS programs will complete their studies with concrete experiences in service delivery. In addition, collaboration among families, other departments, and colleges will ensure that graduate students receive opportunities for collaborative and team-based interventions.
Our Commitment
With the support of federal funding, TAMIU is able to support a two-fold mission that focuses on access to direct services and opportunities for growth in Autism education.

Our Advisory Council
The Autism Interventions Advisory Council was formed to provide recommendations for both the MS in Autism Interventions and for the Autism Interventions Center. The group meets biannually on the TAMIU campus. Members include faculty from the Colleges of Nursing, Education, and Arts & Sciences as well as family members and professional staff from both Laredo ISDs.
