SOCW 3304
Social Welfare Programs and Services.
Three semester hours.
This course is a descriptive review of social welfare programs and service delivery systems. Includes a study of the functions of social welfare in society, the influences of policies on program implementation, and gaps in services for particular populations. The impact of poverty, inequality, historical and political oppression, social and economic oppression are examined on the state and federal level with particular attention to the local border region. The course includes a substantial writing component. Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in SOCW 2361. Admission to pre-major.
