Bilingual Oral Language Assessment and Development

Three semester hours.

This course focuses on: (1) the nature of language and dialects; (2) language characteristics of Spanish and English; (3) influences of languages on each other; (4) first and second language acquisition processes; (5) general principles for developing language proficiency. Prerequisites: Graduate standing. Students pursuing the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) must be admitted to and in good standing in the College of Education.
