ENGL 5370

South Texas Writing Project Summer Institute, Teaching Writing.

Three semester hours. (SS)

Students enrolled in this course will participate in the South Texas Writing Project’s Invitational Summer Institute, an affiliate of the National Writing Project. This course will concentrate on sharing best practices in the teaching of writing with both established and pre-service teachers. Students will prepare lessons on the teaching of writing based on research and their own experience with these lessons. Participants will leave this course with twenty or more lessons and a number of additional strategies for teaching writing to students from kindergarten through college. Prerequisite: Permission from South Texas Writing Project site director. Must be concurrently enrolled in English 5371.
