Nursing Care of the Critically Ill Across the Lifespan
Six semester hours, three theory, three clinical. (SP)
This course focuses on the development of advanced nursing knowledge and skills in the care of critically ill patients across the life span. The emphasis of the course is on the mastery of competencies and confidence in the provision of evidence-based culture specific, safe nursing care to high risk individuals, patients, and families requiring complex nursing care. Students will assess, plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive nursing care with individuals, patients, and families. As a member of the profession, students will demonstrate competence as a provider of patient-centered care, safety advocate, interdisciplinary team member, and coordinator of care roles.
