Text Analysis

Three semester hours.

Analysis of structural units contributing to the meaning of Spanish and English language texts at different levels: individual words, syntactic forms, paragraphs, etc. Examination of various categories of texts with special focus on text-specific terminology, figurative language, idiomatic expressions, and cultural allusions. Practice of same language translation, summaries, précis, and renderings at different levels of formality. Prerequisite/co-requisite: SPAN 4350 or 4351.
