MINOR IN SOCIOLOGY

| Sociology is the study
of social life and the social causes and consequences of human behavior.
A minor in Sociology complements many career paths by developing student's
understanding of the nature of society and social relationships as these
affect them in their personal and professional lives. |

The general objectives of this program are to provide
the student with:
- An understanding of the causes and consequences of social inequality
including those of race, gender, sexuality, and social class;
- An understanding of the forces of social change and social stability;
and
- An array of job skills applicable to a wide variety of labor positions
(for example, but not limited to, the ability to think critically
about social or societal issues, to analyze reading materials and
to write effectively).
