Know your Story. Know your Power. Know Your Family History.
And know the red flags of heart disease and stroke. Cardiovascular diseases kill nearly 1 in 3 women each year -- more than all cancers combined. Know that you have the power to help prevent it.
National Wear Red Day empowers women to become a part of the Go Red For Women® movement by the American Heart Association to end heart disease and stroke in women. Cardiovascular diseases in the U.S. kill approximately 1 woman every 80 seconds. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.

We help the American Heart Association to raise awareness and numbers of people trained to help increase bystander response rates in cardiac emergencies. By 2020, the AHA aims to train 20 million people in the lifesaving skills of CPR and want to double the out-of-hospital bystander CPR rate, from 31% to 62%. To help the AHA to achieve these goals we participate in community events to teach Hands-Only CPR. These CPR awareness trainings are reported to the AHA.
Join us in celebrating CPR Week June 1-7! On December 13, 2007, Congress unanimously passed a resolution to set aside June 1-7 each year as National CPR and AED Awareness Week to spotlight how lives can be saved if more Americans know CPR and how to use an AED. In the declaration, Congress asked states and municipalities to make AEDs more publicly accessible.
