Workshop #1: The Writer's Toolbox (Grades 3-5)
The South Texas Writing Project Workshop Series is proud to offer classroom teachers an array of Reading/Writing workshops that consist of lesson based activities reflective of STAAR exam objectives. If you are interested in exploring creative ways to teach Reading/Writing and make it fun – all the while preparing your students for the STAAR exam – then these workshops are right for you.
Workshop #1: The Writer’s Toolbox (Grades 3-5): This workshop will help teachers provide students with the tools to plan, organize, develop, and evaluate their writing. Teachers will learn to create a writer’s workshop in class that will meet the needs of students by targeting the writing traits they need to focus on. As a result, teachers will watch their young writers blossom into better editors and authors. Teachers will receive different strategies to improve the quality of narrative and expository writing. Moreover, kids will gain responsibility over their writing by understanding their weaknesses and strengths according to their grade level TEKS.
* Classroom teachers will earn 4 hours of CPU credit for participation. Registration includes all workshop materials.
