Dr. Mott

Principal Investigator

Dr. Dan Mott will assume ultimate responsibility for SYSTEM overall. Dr. Mott has a BS and MS from Eastern Illinois University and a PhD from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, all in Zoology.  He has been Associate Dean, and Chair of the Department of Biology & Chemistry at TAMIU since 2003.  Dr. Mott was previously department chair at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL and Dickinson State University in Dickinson, ND. He was the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Arachnology from 2001-2006.  He was the Principal Investigator of a National Institutes of Health Bridges to the Baccalaureate Grant from 2003-2009 and is one of the Senior Scientists for the US Department of Education College Cost Reduction Act program on our campus (STEM-Recruitment, Retention and Graduation). Under Dr. Mott’s leadership the department has grown in size and quality. He has mentored thousands of undergraduates and graduates on TAMIU’s campus over the past eight years. At least 100 of his students have gone on to graduate and professional school. Dr. Mott has extensive teaching experience at both two- and four-year institutions.
