AdmissionsUNDERGRADUATEUndergraduate admissions for first-time college students, concurrent-enrollment students, transfer students, and international students are handled solely by the TAMIU Office of Admissions. Please consult their website or the current catalog for up-to-date requirements. Our majors, minors, and special programs are listed on the undergraduate programs page. GRADUATEWe offer graduate degrees in history, political science, and public administration. Applications from degree-seeking students to our graduate programs are reviewed by the TAMIU Office of Admissions, Office of Graduate Studies and Research, and a department admissions committee comprised of full-time faculty members. We find that applicants who have or are completing an undergraduate degree (B.A.) in history or political science, or related social and behavioral science fields such as psychology, sociology, or criminal justice, are best suited to succeed in our master's degree programs. However, we will consider students with other backgrounds. We may require students with little or no research methods background to take an undergraduate research methods course or other appropriate "stem work" before admitting them fully into the program. Students who are fully admitted to graduate programs may receive financial assistance from the Lamar Bruni Vergara Fund and other sources. Combined Bachelor's/Master's Program (B.A./M.A.)Students in their junior years who are interested in pursuing the master's degree in history or political science are encouraged to apply for the B.A./M.A. Program, which allows some graduate courses taken during the senior year to also count towards the undergraduate degree. Students admitted to the B.A./M.A. program may receive financial assistance targeted for graduate students from the Lamar Bruni Vergara Fund and other sources. FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS |
