Program FAQs

1) What is the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) Degree?

The BAAS degree is an inverted degree program specifically designed to allow individuals who hold an associate of Applied Arts and Sciences degree from an accredited institution with a major in a technical/vocational area the opportunity to obtain a baccalaureate degree without the significant loss of credits that normally occurs in pursuit of a traditional degree. The degree program is designed to afford academic depth to individuals who possess recognized competency in an occupational or technical field.

2) How do I declare a major?

Stop by and visit the Registrar's Office, KL 168 and someone will be happy to assist you.

3) Who do I see for advisement concerning classes?

Come by and visit with Dr. Duffy, LBV 317. He will direct you to the Chair or to a faculty member in your discipline for advisement.

4) I want to pursue a Master's Degree in History, Political Science, or Public Administration. What must I do to be admitted into my chosen program?

Begin by first applying for admission to the graduate programs at TAMIU through the Admissions Office, KL 155. The classes acceptable for stem work will be determined by the Department Chair. There is no stem work requirement for the Master of Public Administration degree.
