Scholarships

Fine & Performing Arts Scholarship
The Department of Fine & Performing Arts offers limited scholarships to outstanding students who consistently show their dedication to their studies and the department. These scholarships are awarded each semester (funds permitting) based on merit and recommendation of faculty.

To apply, students should complete an application, available at the department office in CFPA 217 and submit to Ms. Bede Leyendecker, Department Chair. For more information call (956) 326-2654, or email bleyendecker@tamiu.edu.

Band Scholarships
Band Scholarships are available to eligible students for participation in marching, jazz or concert bands. These scholarships are awarded each semester (funds permitting) based on merit and recommendation of faculty.

To apply, students should complete an application, available at the department office in CFPA 217 and submit to Dr. David Manuel Garcia, Director of Bands. For more information call (956) 326-2640, or email bands@tamiu.edu

Blanche Flores Leyendecker Dance Scholarship
Valeria M. Hernandez Memorial Scholarship

The Dance Program of the Department of Fine & Performing Arts offers two $1000 scholarships annually in honor of Blanche Flores Leyendecker and Valeria Magaly Hernandez to gifted students of dance who have demonstrated a commitment to the dance program and to advancement in field of dance.

To apply students should complete the FPA scholarship application, indicating they are applying specifically for the Leyendecker Scholarship and submit to Bede Leyendecker, Chair, Department of Fine and Performing Arts. D. D. Hachar String Quartet Scholarship
This Scholarship is awarded to four young string players for up to four years to study Chamber Music and Orchestra while completing a Bachelor of Music degree. Recipients will perform regularly as members of the D. D. Hachar String Quartet and the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra.
