The D.D. Hachar Honors Program
A Trip to Belize
In January 2007, I was fortunate enough to travel to Belize as part of International Service Learning (ISL) a non-profit organization who aids underserved areas by providing healthcare, education, and other vital services to needy communities. Providing my services to underdeveloped areas had always been a task I wanted to fulfill, and ISL definitely provided me with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the people I encountered in Belize. The ISL staff welcomed each of us with great enthusiasm and motivated the team to learn and work together to provide successful clinics for the people of Belize. My trip was made possible by the hard working staff at the Office of International Programs and the D.D. Honor’s Program at TAMIU which I am a proud member of. Through their guidance and motivation this life changing experience was made a reality. Carina Gonzalez
