Welcome to the School of Engineering

The School offers undergraduate programs in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering. The School also offers minor programs in Computer Science, Petroleum Engineering, and Geology. In addition, we offer a Pre-Engineering curriculum that allows students to transfer to engineering programs at other institutions. Our faculty is highly qualified and devoted to serving our students and integrating their scholarship into teaching and service.

Our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art computers and instruments to facilitate both teaching and research. The School currently manages several laboratories that support the various disciplines in the department. Our goal is to prepare students to successful professional careers through the provisions of high-quality educational programs and excellent learning and research environments.

Our graduates have had excellent job employment in a wide range of settings, including Fortune 500 companies and various business enterprises, as well as prestigious federal, state, and local government agencies. Some companies and organizations that have hired our graduates in recent years include Lockheed Martin, JP Morgan and Chase, Boeing, USAA, Goldman Sachs, Northrop Grumman, IBM, Microsoft, UPS, NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense, the Texas Department of Transportation, the City of Laredo, Prolamsa Inc., and Midwest Sterilization Corporation. Furthermore, we have had graduates join prestigious graduate programs at other institutions in Texas such as Texas A&M University – College Station, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of Texas at Dallas, and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, as well as universities across the country like the University of Rochester and Florida International University.
