Program Entrance Requirements

1. ACP application must be completed by April 30 for acceptance into the summer cohort.  All application materials must be turned in by April 30; this includes test results.

2. Submit a completed Application for Graduate Admission with official transcripts to TAMIU Office of
Admissions and pay a fee.

3. Complete the Application for Admission to the Alternative Certification Program - College of Education.

   ~Pay $10 fee in Business Office
   ~Include a copy of transcripts
   ~Submit to Director ACP in KL 427 C

4. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.   

5. Overall 2.7 GPA. Content area GPA 2.7.

6. Successful completion of one of the following basic skills tests with the following minimum scores:

THEA scores of:
260 Reading  
260 Math  
260 Writing

T-Comp scores of:
91 Reading  
47 Math  
64/6 Writing

GRE scores of:
350 Verbal
350 Math
700 Composite    

8. Successful Interview with ACP Admissions Committee.

9. Successful Writing Sample (done on the day of the interview).

You may apply at any time during the year and begin your classroom observation hours.  Course work begins Summer session I.
