TEXES Exams (SBEC and ETS instructions)

Participants will follow the steps to complete a profile on SBEC and to register for exams once program admission is complete.

After completing a pre-test in your area of certification, you may be approved to take the TExES exam in that area. Once you receive approval from the ACP Director, you will be able to register for the exam on the TExES website.

How to obtain your TEA ID# and register for exams

Log on to: www.sbec.state.tx.us

• If you already have an account, log in and your TEA ID # will be on the top of the screen.
• If you do not have an account, you must create one.
• Scroll to the right side of the screen and click on New User.
• Create the new account, filling in all the fields, including name, social security number, and date of birth.
• Click on the bubble for “Candidate participating in an Educator Preparation Program”.
• You will see a screen titled “profile” where you will enter your information.
• Enter a username and password.
• When you are finished, you will see your TEA # on the top of the screen.
• If you forgot your username or password, click on Forgot User Name and/or Password? (click here) on the right side of the screen and then follow the instructions.

Log on to: www.texes.ets.org

• Click on one of the following: TExES/ExCET, TExES CAT, or TOPT
• Click on “Your Account” or “Register” at the top of the screen and then enter your username and password.
• Go to login (if you are an existing user) and proceed as directed.
• Click on New User (if you are not an existing user).
• Create the TEA account, filling in all the fields.
• Be sure that when you enter the route, you enter the code University ACP.
• Print your admission ticket, which you must bring on the day of the exam.

*** Your SBEC profile and your ETS profile MUST MATCH EXACTLY or you will not be able to register.

If you have an SBEC profile, you must update it so all the information is current and matches your ETS account.
