How do I apply for graduation?

Students can apply for graduation online via Uconnect.

  • Log in to Uconnect by using your NetID and password.
  • Click on the "My Records" icon.
  • Select the "Academic Records" option.
  • Click on the "Graduation Application" option on your left side menu.
  • Follow the steps located towards the top of the page on each of the pages you navigate through.

Is there a fee to apply for graduation?

Submitting your graduation application does include a $50 fee. If students miss the regular deadline, they may apply for graduation late which includes a $50 fee plus a $100 late fee which must be submitted before the final deadline.

When can I start applying for graduation and when is the deadline?

Students can apply for graduation after registering for the last classes needed to graduate. The deadline to apply for graduation will be posted on the TAMIU calendar.

I am still not at 100% in DegreeWorks. Can I still apply for graduation?

Students do not need to be at 100% on DegreeWorks to apply for graduation. As long as the student is registered for the last classes needed to graduate they may apply for graduation.

How can I postpone my graduation?

Students who have applied for graduation and wish to postpone their graduation must notify the Registrar's Office or email graduation@tamiu.edu.

What is my status for graduation?

Students may contact the Office of the University Registrar to find out their status for graduation or email graduation@tamiu.edu.

How can I graduate with honors?

In order to graduate with honors, student must have completed at least 45 semester credit hours at TAMIU with a TAMIU GPA of a 3.50 or above.

The criteria for graduation with honors are:

Cum Laude (with honors): a grade point average of 3.50 or higher but less than a 3.70.

Magna Cum Laude (with high honors): a grade point average of 3.70 or higher but less than 3.90.

Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors): a grade point average of 3.90 or higher.

What size is my diploma?

The diploma size is 11" X 14".

Can my diploma be mailed out?

Graduation candidates wishing to request their diplomas to be mailed out can email graduation@tamiu.edu.
