Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Catalog Information
Application Requirements
Students will apply upon completion or in the last semester of completing both the University Core Curriculum and BSN Additional Requirements for admission in either Fall or Spring semesters.
- Students must be admitted by Texas A&M International University and must be declared nursing major.
- Completion of University Core Curriculum and BSN Additional Requirements with a grade of "C" or better with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required for application.
- Completion of all science courses, with a minimum grade of "C" and a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required for application. In the event a science course was taken more than once, the science GPA for that course will be determined by averaging the grades (including any grades of "C" or below).
- At student expense, the HESI A2 or HESI Admission Assessment will be administered to the students who meet the criteria above. The scores on the HESI will be considered in the admission process.
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences must receive student's completed application and supporting documentation (listed below) due on the Monday after Spring Commencement for Fall admission and on the Monday after Fall Commencement for Spring admission.
The application on NursingCAS will open on February 1st for Fall admission and September 1st for Spring admission.
- Application to clinical nursing courses is now required to be submitted via NursingCAS, the centralized application service for nursing. Visit www.nursingcas.org to start your application or log into your existing account. Visit the Add Program page to select Texas A&M International University's nursing program and complete the steps to fill out and submit your application. Many resources are available to help you complete your application, including the applicant help center and visual instructions. You can also contact NursingCAS support with questions.
- At student expense, a federal background check will be conducted by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON). A copy of postcard sent to student by the TBON, indicating clearance, must be submitted by uploading the document in NursingCAS in the Program Materials> Documents sections, once you have added Texas A&M International University to your application. A student will not be accepted in clinical nursing courses if they do not have clearance from the TBON.

Accommodations for Disabilities
TAMIU provides reasonable accommodation to qualified students with a disability. Upon admission, a nursing student who discloses a disability and requests accommodation may be asked to provide documentation of his or her disability for purpose of determining appropriate accommodations, including modifications to the program. The TAMIU College of Nursing and Health Sciences will provide reasonable accommodations, but is not required to make accommodations that would substantially alter the nature or requirements of the program or provide auxiliary aids that present an undue burden. To matriculate or continue in the curriculum, the nursing student must be able to perform all the essential functions either with or without accommodation.
