Bacterial Meningitis Vaccine Requirements
As of January 1, 2012, first time students, including transfer students,(under age 30)entering Texas A&M International University must submit evidence of having been vaccinated against Bacterial Meningitis at least 10 days prior to the first day of the semester.
A certificate signed by a health practitioner or an official immunization record providing evidence of vaccination MCV4 or MPSV4 may be accepted if administered or boosted within the past 5 years. The student has the right to claim an exemption from the vaccination requirement.
Important Considerations
- You are strongly encouraged to obtain the bacterial meningitis vaccination before entering the United States.
- The bacterial meningitis vaccination must be administered by a Health Practioner authorized by law to administer an immunization.
- Vaccinations older than 5 years will require a booster.
The City of Laredo Health Department is offering the immunization shots for $8.00, please contact the City of Laredo Health Department at (956) 723-2051 for additional information regarding their immunization program.
