OVERVIEW The University: Arnhem Business School (ABS) is part of HAN University (Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen). The University has a total enrollment of about 23,000 students, 6,000 of which study at ABS. Sixty percent of those are from abroad. The school is situated in an important region for international trade and is one of Europe's prime economic locations. ABS provides higher professional education in English as well as in Dutch. Location: Arnhem is bordered on the Rhine river about 20 miles from the German border and is one hour from Amsterdam. Paris, London, Brussels, Berlin and other major European cities are also just a few hours away by train. Arnhem borders the Netherlands' largest national park and has many historic buildings, museums, theaters and sports clubs. Bicyling is a popular means of transportation. The Korenmarkt in the center of the city is a popular plaza where students gather at outdoor cafes and discos at night. Arnhem is a student town and with pop festivals, street music and pleasant restaurants it is a good place for fun and safe living. IMPORTANT LINKS: University Website | Academic Calendar | TAMIU Study Abroad Application | ABS Application ACADEMIC PROGRAM Students may participate in this program for a summer, semester or an academic year. The summer program consists of one business course, typically transferred to TAMIU as elective credit. Each semester is split into two teaching periods for which students select modules (see ABS website for course titles and descriptions). Students are advised to follow a package of modules per semester that amounts to a total of 30 ECTS. Modules include courses on marketing, finance, economics, logistics, and communication. HOUSING Students will be housed in student halls of residence, centrally located and adjacent to the commercial and shopping areas of Arnhem. Student housing association Vivare is in charge of all housing matters. The rooms differ in price, size and location in Arnhem. All these rooms have in common that they are furnished with a bed, desk, chairs, wardrobe, curtains and carpet. Vivare does not provide in pillows, sheets and covers or quilts. The kitchens are soberly equipped with a stove, refrigerator and a dustbin. PROGRAM COST Costs for this program are estimated and subject to change. The cost figures listed below are for 2010/2011.
* American citizens do not need to obtain a visa for their stay in the Netherlands, however they must apply for a Residence Permit if the stay is more than three months. In addition to financial aid, qualified students may apply for the International Education Fee Scholarship, the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Scholarship, and the Gilman Scholarship. Students who apply to a semester Arnhem Business School program will automatically receive the one-time Partner Scholarship in the amount of $500. APPLICATION DEADLINES Deadlines are listed below.
