The Victoria Harbour, separating the glass towers of the Hong Kong Island and the busy streets of Kowloon, is one of the world's most spectacular waterways. Beyond the commercial districts are beautiful islands and unspoiled beaches along the coast. One of the world's tallest Buddha statues is found on the Lantau Island, the largest outlying island in Hong Kong. The official languages of Hong Kong are Chinese and English. Cantonese is the indigenous and most widely spoken dialect. Use of Putonghua (Mandarin) is growing. Major signage is in English and Chinese.
