APPLICATION PROCESS

The completed application of a foreign exchange student consists of following:

  • Application Form: Filled out completely and signed by you.

  • Transcript: Submit a current transcript from the college or university you now attend.  This can not be an internet printed transcript by yourself. 
  • Proof of English Proficiency: TOEFL score of 500 or higher or Letter of Language Proficiency.

  • Meningitis Form: Please read and sign form. 
  • Passport:  Sumbit one copy of your passport.
  • Financial Statement: Filled out completely and signed by your sponsor and you.

  • Bank Statement: Certifying the sponsor to have at least US $6,004 for undergraduate students and US $5,744 for graduate students (one semester exchange, stated in U.S. currency), or US $12,169 for undergraduate students and US $11,649 for graduate students (two semester exchange, stated in U.S. currency) dated within six months of the first enrollment according to the following dates:  Fall Semester - January 1 or later, Spring Semester - May 1 or later.  IMPORTANT NOTE: We do not have yet the new amounts for academic year 2008.  We will accept applications with the above stated amount, until new amounts have been published.

  • Sponsor Letter: Written by the party who will financially support the applicant during pursuit of degree. The letter should certify the sponsor's commitment to pay the educational, living, health, and personal expenses of the applicant until completion of the exchange program. A sponsor may be the student, student's parents or a third party organization. The sponsor's letter must be dated within six months of the first enrollment according to dates listed below on bank statement requirement.

Application deadline

Applications received by the deadline are given full consideration.  Applications received after the deadline will be considered on space-available basis only.  It is strongly recommended that you submit all application materials by the deadline.  Fall: May 1,  Spring: October 1.

Pre-Departure Orientation and Other Procedures

Upon acceptance and receipt of your I-20 forms, you must immediately apply for a visa with the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.  With the I-20 forms, you will receive additional information concerning Texas A&M International, such as housing, course scheduling, orientation dates, etc.  Don’t forget that for admission to A&M International you will need to have health insurance coverage while in the U.S.A.  The university plan will cost approximately $400 per long semester.  All requests for substitutes of the university coverage must include an English translation of the policy form the insurance company.
