Program Dates

June 14 – July 9, 2011 

Program

This summer course is four weeks long and focuses on European Business Issues, in particular the European Union and its Single Market.  Offered by our exchange partner Ecole Superieure de Commerce - Chambery, you will have the opportunity to participate in business seminars by a diverse group of professors, visit national and multi-national corporations, the UN and WTO organization in Generva, and cultural visits in the Savoie Region.

Week One

Chambery

Arrive in Chambery, orientation meeting and tour of Chambery.   Various seminars and regional company visits.

Week Two

Chambery

Various seminars and regional company visits.  Guided vsit of the United Nations and World Trade Organization in Geneva.

Week Three

Chambery

Various seminars and regional company visits. Day trip to Turin (Italy), city of the XX winter Olympics and nominated as European Youth Capital for 2010.

Week Four Chambery

Various seminars and regional company visits.  Day trip to Chamonix, including cable car ride up the Mont Blanc's Aiguille du Midi, Europe's highest summit

Accommodation

You will be housed in shared off-campus housing in the heart of Chambery.  The Residence is a modern, fully furnished, self-catering apartment complet, and includes broadband internet connection and direct phone line.   Each studio has its own bathroom and cooking area with fridge. Bed linen is provided. Meals are not included in the housing arrangement.

Program Cost

Program cost is EUR 2,000, excluding roundtrip airfare/surface travel to Chambery, meals, health insurance and TAMIU tuition/fees if applying by 15 March 2010.  After this date, program cost is EUR 2,300.

16 April Program Installment of $ 1,000
15 May Remaining program balance due (depending on exchange rate)
Applications will not be processed unless they are completed and received by the stated deadline.

Application Process

1)  Turn in your TAMIU study abroad application and fee and ESC Chambery application by the recommended deadline. 

2)  Apply for any of the TAMIU study abroad scholarships for which you qualify.

3)  Print out a Financial Aid Budget Form for personal use.  OIE will provide a budget of your eduational expenses directly to the Office of Financial Aid.

4) Complete and turn in your Waiver and Liability Packet by 1 May 2010

Study Abroad Scholarships

TAMIU/OIE offers two scholarships for study abroad, the International Education Fee Scholarship and the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Scholarship. Qualified TAMIU students may complete their application and supporting documents and submit them to OIE together with their study abroad application. You will be notified via email of your award and the award disbursement date. If you qualify for both scholarships you can be awarded between $1,500 - $2,500.

Course Information

All students are required to enroll for a total of 3 SCH either in BA 4399, MGT 4399, BA 3320

Program Requirements

Students must have been approved by Ms. Maggie Blasco, A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business undergraduate advisor for acceptance into this program.

Refunds**

Withdrawal from a study abroad program must be made in writing to OIE. The application fee of $200 is non-refundable, unless TAMIU cancels the program. The application fee will be applied to your total program cost. After this, TAMIU will refund recoverable tuition and costs as determined by OIE. Refunds will be calculated from the date OIE is notified in writing of your intent to withdraw. TAMIU is not responsible for indirect costs paid directly by students, including but not limited to passport fees, vaccinations, and transportation costs.
