OVERVIEW

The University:  Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí —Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí— (UASLP) is the most important public institution of higher education in the state of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and one of the country’s finest. Its leadership is due to its wide scope of educative choices, student body services, the national and international relevance of its research, the preparation of internationally competitive and socially involved professionals, and its flexible curriculum which caters to the demands of a constantly changing society.

 

Location:  It is located in the city capital of San Luis Potosí; its rectory and central administration offices are housed in the historical building known as “Edificio Central”, in the same location where the city of San Luis Potosí was founded in 1592. Schools and research institutes are spread out in different areas of the city. UASLP also has branch campi throughout the state in Ciudad Valles (Multidisciplinary Academic Unit in the Huasteca Region), Ríoverde (Multidisciplinary Academic in the Mid State Region), and Matehuala (Academic Coordination in the Altiplano region).

ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Students may participate in this program for a semester or academic year.  At the graduate level, UASLP offers 67 academic programs including 11 doctorate programs, 32 masters degrees and 25 specialties enrolling a total of 1,800 students. From these programs, 24 have obtained the national highest level recognition of quality by being included in the National Roster of Postgraduate Programs (PNP) which is sponsored by the Mexican Science and Technology Council (CONACYT).

HOUSING

There is no on-campus housing provided at UASLP.  However, accepted students will be assisted with finding accommodations nearby the University. A listing of accommodations will be made available upon inquiry by the student.

FINANCIAL AID and SCHOLARSHIPS

TAMIU financial aid may be applied to the costs of studying abroad.  Student interested in receiving financial aid should:

  • Direct financial aid inquiries to the Department of Financial Aid
  • Complete and submit the FAFSA by the appropriate deadline
  • Request a study abroad budget (will be provided one the student has completed his/her full study abroad application)

In addition to financial aid, qualified students may apply for the International Education Fee Scholarship, the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Scholarship, and the Gilman Scholarship.

Students who apply to a semester Univ. Autonoma de San Luis Potosi program will automatically receive the one-time Partner Scholarship in the amount of $250.
