Welcome to our 2015-2016
Annual Report for the Office of
Instructional Technology and
Distance Education Services. This
report highlights our main activi-
ties for the year and provides
quantifiable information on the
number of faculty and students
that have been impacted by our
services.
This past year was particularly
challenging since we imple-
mented Blackboard as our new
Learning Management System to
support online and supplement
our traditional courses. As online
becomes mainstreamed among
our various degree programs,
the work of our instructional
technology coordinators is essen-
tial. During this past academic
year, four hundred five faculty
members sought assistance in
Blackboard and other instruc-
tional technologies. Aside from
individual consultations, our
team provided over two hundred
seventy learning opportunities
on a variety of topics to include
accessibility and quality matters.
Quality Matters (QM) continues
to be the driving force behind
our quality assurance efforts for
online and hybrid courses. As
can be seen in this report, seven
courses were QM certified and
eight are in the process of being
reviewed.
Finally, we would like to take
this opportunity to acknowledge
the guidance and support of our
Distance Education and Instruction-
al Technology Committee (DEITC)
members. Their recommendations
are invaluable and their input is the
driving force behind the activities
highlighted in this report.
Sincerely,
Dr. Patricia Abrego
Director of Instructional Technology
and Distance Education Services
