How Do I Register for Training Session?
Once we have received all the required forms, our department will contact you and register you for a
Quality Matters training session. Once registered, you will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to
access your training. Disregard the payment request since our office will process payment. After you
have completed your training successfully, you will be awarded a certificate acknowledging your
completed training. Please send an electronic copy of the certificate t
or a hard
copy to KL 259. In the event that you do not complete the training session you registered for,
the registration fee will be deducted from your stipend.
Description of QM Training Sessions

Teaching Online - An Introduction to Online Delivery
The “Teaching Online - An Introduction to Online Delivery” workshop explores basic components of
online course delivery. Participants will be introduced to differences between traditional face-to-face
learning and online learning, the instructor's role in the online classroom, the importance of getting (and
keeping) students engaged, and methods of facilitating online discussions using discussion boards.
Designing Your Own Course (DYOC)
The DYOC workshop includes an overview of the QM Rubric and provides aframework to design an
online course plan. Participants explore all eight key standards of the QM Rubric, focusing on learning
objectives and overall course alignment.
Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR)
The APPQMR workshop is QM's flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and the process of using the QM
Rubric to review online courses. It is intended for a broad audience, including but not limited to: faculty,
instructional designers, administrators, and adjunct instructors who wish to understand more about the
QM Rubric and process of course review.
The APPQMR is a pre-requisite for the Peer Reviewer Course, which is the required course to become a
QM Peer Reviewer.
Improving Your Own Course (IYOC)
The IYOC workshop explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online
courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their online courses and develop a course improvement
plan. The content is based on the eight general standards of the Quality Matters Rubric. You should be
prepared with an online course that you want to improve. This course is not for building a course from scratch.
