Library Services & General Information for the Disabled

Your Library Account

Go to TAMIU WorldCat Discovery to access your library account and renew books. Find more information about borrowing privileges.

Interlibrary Loan

Books and articles not owned by Killam Library can be requested from other libraries for use by TAMIU students, faculty, and staff without charge. Requests can be made online. More information can be found here.

Available Software

There are two computers, one on the first floor and one on the second floor, equipped with special software. JAWS, screen reading software, and Zoom Text, an integrated magnifier and screen reader, are available.

Adjustable Furnishings

The library provides adjustable computer stations on the first and second floors to suit the needs of our patrons.

Closed Captioning in Video Streaming Resources

The library offers access to video streaming resources through databases such as Films on Demand, Docuseek2, Ambrose Video, and others. Most videos do include closed captions. If you find any that do not, and you would like to have the captions added, please contact the Reference Desk so we can discuss options with the publisher.

Study Areas

The Great Room on the 3rd floor has been designated as a reading room for the library during regular library hours. The 4th floor has been designated as a quiet area for individual study. Additional seating is also located on every floor.

Study Rooms

There are 26 group study rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors. Groups have priority over individuals, and groups of TAMIU students have priority over other groups in the study rooms. Please read our Study Room Policy.

You can bring food and drink in the library and study rooms, however, we ask that you follow these guidelines.

Photocopying, Campus Printing & Copy Center

Photocopy machines are located on the 1st floor of the library. Copies cost $.10 per page. All three machines accept cash and TAMIU ID cards. The print card machine is located on the 1st floor across from the Circulation Desk. The microform readers on the 1st floor are connected to the Go-Print stations. Change is available at the Circulation Desk.

Campus Printing Service allows students and faculty to print documents to selected printers on campus.

The Copy Center, located at KL006A, is available from Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Additional Services

If you require additional services, please contact the Office of Disability Services for Students. We are more than happy to coordinate with that office to accommodate any needs.
