Quickbooks Workshop at TAMIU Feb. 6

QuickBooks: Hands-on Workshop
Scheduled by TAMIU-SBDC Feb. 6

The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will sponsor the hands-on workshop, “How to Manage Your Business Finances with QuickBooks Pro,” Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at TAMIU. Classroom location will be provided with registration confirmation.

The $50 fee includes a workbook and lunch. Seating is limited.

Richard Pérez, SBDC director, explains that the days of manually posting transactions to journals and ledgers are gone. Computer technology has ushered accounting into a new generation. The benefit for business owners is the opportunity to participate at a higher level in the financial administration of their businesses.

Invoicing, sales receipts check writing, and the subsequent flow of information into a cash-in bank register are among the important basic features found in most accounting software applications. However, these processes represent only a small portion of the accounting procedures that can now be done electronically through software like QuickBooks.

The workshop will include the following:

  • What is Financial Management?
  • Chart of accounts
  • How to add items
  • Customers and vendors
  • Managing sales and expenses
  • Budgeting and reports.

To register, call 326.2827 or register online at sbdc.tamiu.edu

Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
