Ballet Folklórico Classes for Kids at TAMIU this Spring
Children from ages five and above can discover the joy of dance and
learn about Mexican history and culture through Texas A&M International
University's Ballet Folklórico classes.
Classes begin Saturday, February 5 for new students and Saturday, January
15 for returning students. Classes end Saturday, April 23. Children ages
10 years and up will meet every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., children
from ages eight to 10 will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and ages
five through seven will meet from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuition is $30 per
month or $80 for the session, if paid in advance on the first day of class.
Gabriella Mendoza-García directs the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico
and the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico Juvenil, and said her professional
experience as a dancer provides students with an informative and fun environment.
"I love to dance and to share the world of dance with my students.
We are constantly learning new dances from areas throughout Mexico and
the children really learn a lot, not only from the physical movement,
but from the history that goes with every dance," said Mendoza-García.
