LCC, TAMIU Offer 'Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat' Oct. 16-19
Experience the magic of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat"
as the Opera Workshops of Laredo Community College (LCC) and Texas A&M
International University (TAMIU) present their amateur production of Tim
Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's sparkling family musical, beginning Thursday,
Oct. 16.
The musical will be shown at LCC’s Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts
Center theater Oct. 16, 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. Admission
to the performance is $5 with proceeds benefiting future opera workshop
productions. Tickets will be sold at the door.
With lyrics by Rice and music by Webber, the LCC and TAMIU opera workshops
are joining forces for the first time to showcase this enchanting musical
fable focusing on the biblical story of Jacob’s son, Joseph and his coat
of many colors.
“The musical features a variety of popular music styles including country,
rock and rap. The cast includes a children's chorus, as well as many adult
roles and dancers,” said Dana Crabtree, TAMIU instructor of music and voice.
“LCC is pleased to be collaborating with TAMIU to offer a popular musical,
which is full of non-stop action, laughter and infectious fun for audiences
of all ages. We hope that the community takes the opportunity to enjoy
this wonderful production and support the theatrical arts in Laredo,” said
Dr. Joseph Crabtree, chair of the LCC Performing Arts Department and opera
workshop instructor.
