University Urges Park and Ride Service
Tomorrow to Relieve Congestion
A large influx of campus visitors Wednesday has prompted
Texas A&M
international University to offer a one-day “Park and Ride” service to
help alleviate congestion and parking difficulties tomorrow.
On Wednesday,
Oct. 29, TAMIU will welcome approximately 2000 students to campus
as part of
Laredo College Night from 5 - 7 p.m. In addition, the University
is an early voting site, which will also generate increased traffic. This will
create serious traffic congestion on campus for students, staff and faculty. There will be minimal parking on campus.
In order to relieve expected traffic and parking congestion, the University
is making available, free of charge, a Park and Ride service from the Laredo
Entertainment Center to the campus beginning at 7
a.m. and continuing till 10 p.m. Buses will run continuously throughout the day from the LEC to
TAMIU, with drop off at the Student Center. All students, staff and faculty
are asked to make use of the Park and Ride service.
The parking lots on
the West Side of the University will be closed on
Wednesday at the entrance to West Road at 7 a.m. Only those wishing to
vote or who live in the Village will be allowed on West Road. The parking
lots will re-open at 6:00 p.m. for those attending Laredo College Night
as
guests or staff only.
University Police will direct traffic throughout Wednesday, routing
traffic appropriately.
