TAMIU 9th Annual Fall Dance Concert Nov. 17

TAMIU 9th Annual Fall
Dance Concert Nov. 17

The crisp cold air marks the arrival of fall and brings Texas A&M International University dance students back to the stage for the 2006 9th Annual Fall Dance Concert.

Make plans to attend the event on Friday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Recital Hall.

Admission is $5 for adults and children 11 and older. Admission is free for children 10 and under. Proceeds benefit student scholarships.

The concert will feature students from the jazz and ballet classes, modern performance and flamenco troupes.

The performance will showcase the various dance styles taught at TAMIU and demonstrate student abilities. Dance students choreographed many of the dances.

Eight students will be debuting their own works in this program. Terry Villalon choreographed a 1920’s Charleston dance; Roberto Barrera choreographed a ballet duet; Elizabeth García-López a choreographed a jazz dance; Sara Elena Flores choreographed an abstract contemporary piece; Denise Fuentes will present a lyrical modern dance; Ilse Schaffler has choreographed a jazz number to a classical medley of classics; Adriana Canales will present a jazz/hip-hop number; and Brigette Garay a lyrical modern dance.
