Implications of Global Banking
Topic of Next Speaker Series at TAMIU
Global banking and its implications on the Western Hemisphere will be the subject of the next 2006/2007 International Bank of Commerce (IBC) Keynote Speaker Series with Manuel Sánchez Rodríguez on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Western Hemispheric Trade Center (WHTC) room 111.
This event is free and open to the public.
Currently president and chief executive officer of Laredo National Bank-Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, Sánchez has 15 years of professional banking experience with BBVA. His expertise includes risk management, corporate and commercial banking, investments and real estate for BBVA in Madrid, Spain, Paris, France, New York and México City.
Sánchez holds a Master of Science in international relations from London School of Economics and Political Science in London, England. He also holds a Diplôme des Hautes Etudes Européenes in Economics from Collège d’ Europe in Bruges, Belgium and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Yale University. He is fluent in Spanish, English, French, German and Arabic.
The IBC 2006/2007 Keynote Speaker Series presents practical and targeted lectures imparted by distinguished leaders, recognized experts and outstanding scholars in the trade and business arenas.
The IBOC Series brings to the University individuals of exceptional accomplishment and expertise to enhance the academic experience of TAMIU students, faculty and the community.
The next speaker in the Series, Dr. Joan Anderson, will present “Trade and its Impact on Income Inequality and Economic Development in the U.S. and Mexican Border Regions,” on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 at 7:30 p.m.
