Students, Parents Encouraged to
Attend TAMIU's Preview Day Saturday
Texas A&M International University
invites all students, especially juniors and seniors of local and area high
schools and their parents, to come and learn more about TAMIU and all
it has to offer at Preview Day on Saturday, November 19 from 10 a.m. to 2:30
p.m. at the Student Center.
Participants will get the inside scoop
on scholarships, explore University life and modern campus living, inquire
about financial aid assistance, meet with professors in mock classes...and
much more.
Gina De La Miyar Gonzalez, director of TAMIU's Office of Recruitment and Schools
Relations, explained one highlight of the event, a chance to sample a TAMIU
class.
"At one point, the students can choose one area, for example: business,
education or nursing and TAMIU professors will present a sample first day of
class, complete with brief lecture. This will give students an idea of what
to expect when they get here," said Gonzalez.
The event is open to the public.
Additionally, the event will focus on admissions, financial aid and housing. Gonzalez
said unique parent-student panels will also provide opportunities for discussion.
"There will be both student and parent panels. In the parent panel parents
will have the opportunity to speak with other parents. Students will
be able to ask TAMIU students about their experiences or any concerns they
may have in their session," she said.
