TAMIU Offers SAT Preparation Course
Students who want to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) for college
entrance can take advantage of a SAT preparation workshop being offered
by the Office of Special Programs at Texas A&M International University
starting Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005.
The 32-hour course is designed to build skills required in math, English,
and writing to secure an improved SAT score. Classes will meet on Saturdays
from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Jessica Villarreal, program coordinator, said the course cost is $250
and includes pre-test, post-test, and books. As in previous years, TAMIU
instructors will teach the workshop. She said enrollment is limited, so
students are encouraged to register as early as possible.
The next SAT exam will be held Saturday, March 12, 2005.
Villarreal said the course was a good idea, because completing SAT preparation
workshops help reduce test anxiety and improves test-taking skills and
confidence, often increasing SAT scores.
