More than Two Decades: Peace Corps to be Discussed at TAMIU

The Peace Corps is celebrating its 42nd anniversary this year. To commemorate this milestone, Texas A&M International University will host a panel discussion with several returned Peace Corps volunteers from both on and off campus on Tuesday, February 25 from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 116. The event is free and open to the public.

Panelists include Dr. Phoebe Godfrey, assistant professor of sociology (Cameroon 1989 - 91); Norma Hannigan, nurse practitioner (Chile 1980 - 81); Dr. Terence P. Hannigan, director of Student Counseling Services (Chile 1980 - 81); and John Stabile, associate director of Computer and Telecommunication Services (Malaysia 1974 - 76). Dr. Jackie Jeffrey, assistant professor of anthropology, will be the master of ceremonies.

The Peace Corps sends young Americans to other countries with the goals of helping people in other countries meet the need for trained personnel, promoting a better understanding of Americans world-wide and promoting American understanding of the people of the world.
