The International Bank of Commerce 2006 Keynote Speaker Series continues Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Texas A&M International University with Dr. William C. Gruben. He will discuss "Growth and México" in Western Hemispheric Trade Center (WHTC), room 111.

This event is open to the public and free of charge.

Dr. Gruben serves the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas as vice president, Chief International Economist and Director of the Dallas Fed's Center for Latin American Economics.

His research focuses on international trade, international capital flows, currency regimes and banking-chiefly as these subjects apply to developing countries, in particular those in Latin American.

He served on the faculty of economics at Southern Methodist University and on the faculty of International Management Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Gruben holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He has worked as research associate at UT's Institute for Latin American Studies and its Center for Economics Development.

The IBC 2006 Keynote Speaker Series presents practical and targeted lectures imparted by distinguished leaders, recognized experts and outstanding scholars in the trade and business arenas.

The Series brings to the University individuals of exceptional accomplishment and expertise to enhance the academic experience of TAMIU students, faculty and the community.

The next speaker, scheduled Wednesday March 1, will be Daniel T. Griswold, director of the Cato Institute's Center for Trade Policy Studies. He will discuss the future of US-México Immigration Policy.
