Financial Aid Fair Set at TAMIU March 1
If you have ever wanted to attend college, but felt you couldn't afford
the tuition, you should attend Texas A&M International University's
Financial Aid Fair on Tuesday, March 1 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the University
Green.
Laura Elizondo, director of the Office of Financial Aid, said the city-wide
Fair will be valuable to anyone considering higher education, and is free
and open to the public.
"There is three billion dollars of financial aid available to Texas
students, and we'll be spending the entire day helping Laredoans gain
access to that money," said Elizondo.
She said in 2004, sixty-eight percent of TAMIU students received aid.
"Last year, TAMIU students received more than $17 million in financial
aid. Everyone should think about applying. While the due date for the
FAFSA isn't until June 30, the sooner the application is received, the
more likely those in need will be to get free money to pay for college,"
said Elizondo.
